Communications Course Descriptions
Publications/Yearbook I- 1 year elective
Grades 10, 11, 12
Students must be computer literate. Students enrolled in this course will produce the school yearbook, Lion's Pride. After school work will be required, including attending school functions and selling ads in the community.
Publications/Yearbook II- 1 year elective
Grades 11, 12
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Publications/Yearbook I

Television Broadcasting I- 1 year elective
Grades 10, 11, 12
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Digital Media I
This course is an extension of Digital Media I where students take the film and editing skills learned to create weekly school broadcasts. Emphasis is put on exposing students to the wide variety of skills needed to succeed in the broadcast industry. Complete Premiere Pro certification.
Television Broadcasting II- 1 year elective
Grades 11, 12
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Television Broadcasting I and Adobe Premiere Pro certification
Students in this advanced class will continue with the curriculum started and Television Broadcasting I and are responsible for producing the weekly broadcast, highlight reels, and special video segments.
Speech I- 1 year elective
Grades 9, 10, 11, 12
Theories and practice of speech communication as applied to business and professional situations. The course concentrates on building speaking and delivery skills, as well as critical thinking and analytical skills that focus on how to organize a presentation. Theories and practice of speech communication in relation to business and professional situations will be a focus as students write and present oral presentations.
Speech II- 1 year elective
Grades 10, 11, 12
Prerequisite: Speech I
In this course, students will learn advanced oral communication skills. The students will be given practical experience in oral interpretations, individual and group research presentations, debate and drama.
