Career Education Course Descriptions

ACT PREP
Grades 11 and 12
This comprehensive ACT Preparation course will use previous PreACT and ACT scores to equip high school students with the skills and strategies necessary to excel on the ACT exam. Taught by experienced English and Math teachers, this course utilizes individualized, data-driven approaches to enhance student performance across all sections of the ACT: English, Math, Reading, and Science.

JOBS FOR AMERICA’S GRADUATES (JAG)
Grades 9-12
JAG provides an educational setting that promotes academic and skills attainment, civic responsibility, leadership development, and social awareness that is necessary to become a responsible citizen and productive worker.

LEADER IN ME
Grades 9-12
In this class, students and staff work together to develop essential leadership competencies for postsecondary readiness, increase engagement and school belonging, create high-trust school cultures through authentic relationships, and achieve breakthrough results on their important goals.

STAR
Grades 11 and 12
STAR (Students Teaching and Reaching) is an introductory or exploratory class designed to give students a glimpse into the teaching profession, allowing them to practice basic teaching skills while learning about the realities and challenges of being a teacher, often with a focus on self-reflection and considering if teaching is the right career path for them.
